Dear God, “Are we there yet?”

Category : Tom's Soap Box

What is your purpose?

God says He has a purpose for each and every one of us. But “what is it?” we all ask. In this very moment would God’s ultimate purpose for you overwhelm you? Our God is one that set a plan in motion, when Adam sinned, to redeem us ALL. His Son being at the center of that plan. Each one of us was thought of, continues to be thought of, in that plan of redemption.  He planned our part of it to grow in Him, affect others around us to fulfill their purpose, and in doing so complete ours for His glory.

Exodus 9:16
I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

In experience comes understanding, without the experiences in your life you could not fulfill the purpose God has for you.

Matthew 13:19
When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.

If a seed of encouragement is planted in you by an act of faith of another or a teaching. You need to water, nurture, and protect that seed while it grows, or it can and will be stolen. To grow that seed (understand) you must take that seed and sow it (have experience) with what has been given to you.

I will quote from a book by Bill Johnson (Supernatural power of the Transformed mind)

In our culture, we define understanding as nothing more than cognitive reasoning, coming to conclusions, or fully comprehending. In eastern culture, which is the culture of the scripture, understanding is an experience. Understanding in Matthew 13:19 means “learning which takes place through the five senses”. It means doing, as in, practical human experience.

The biblical view of understanding means far more than to give mental assent; it means to practice in life what one has come to know by revelation. To understand also means yielding to something before you can explain, define, or describe it.

We don’t have faith because we understand, but we understand because we have faith. In other words, it is imperative to accept and understand things without completely satisfying your intellect. Understanding is not required for obedience. A normal Christian is to obey the revelations and promptings of the Holy Spirit without understanding.

Understanding usually unfolds in the experience.

I would say, your purpose is in what God has for you today, right now, to move you toward your next purpose, but that “final” purpose is not the end of your usefulness. The experience and understanding is in the journey. Today is your purpose, God has prepared you for today, which will prepare you for tomorrow. If you do not engage your purpose in your now, you will not find yourself with the right understanding to be in your purpose tomorrow.

Let’s look at a few examples:

Did Moses know he would be the leader of the Lord’s chosen people when he was a shepherd for 40 years? Was Moses ever in a place of disappointment as he watched the sheep after having everything provided for him at the right hand of the pharaoh in Egypt? If Moses had not had the experience in pharaoh’s house, being in the basket on the river, a builder of Egypt, kill an Egyptian, be then rejected by his people for doing so, shepherded in the wilderness for 40 years – Could he have fulfilled his purpose as Israel’s leader?

Joseph could not have been able to help his family or Egypt through the famine if he had not been thrown in the pit by his own brothers, sold as a slave, lived life in as a prisoner, had opportunity to be in the king’s court, raised into more authority to assist his family. If not for the talent God gave him, and Joseph exercising it to those around him, he could not have been ready to speak to the king.

These are “big shoes” you say, but I say no!  These are examples of our God creating you to have your own identity in Him. For us to fulfill our purpose we have to fill our own bigger shoes every day.  There is no comparison to others around you, or the history we see in the bible.  You are here to be you, because God has great plans for you!

Be comfortable in what God has for you right now. Listen to Him, reflect on your personal growth, continue to press into Him for more. He has always taken care of you, He always will. He will not quit, He is always focused on you, since he is Omnipresent He is capable of that!

Seek God everyday, having conversation with Him. Get to know Him

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Yes God knows you, He made you! His desire is for you to willingly share of yourself with Him.

Ephesians 1:11
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will

Encourage one another according to their purpose.

Colossians 3:16
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Know God’s voice as you seek relationship with Him.

Colossians 1:9
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives

Life is a bowl of cherries, and there are pits, but not as the old saying goes.

There is the fleshy sweet part, the “good” part. The job you landed, the dollar you found, sitting watching the sunrise, going to fast on that perfect stretch of road, feeling the sand between your toes on that well deserved vacation.

The hard ungiving pit is where the life is stored, the reason the cherry exists. The flesh is there to protect the pit, to give it life when the time comes. When the sweet is removed there is the heart and soul, you can hold it hard in your hand.

The core of it all
What you are.

I see Christ in you

Category : Tom's Soap Box

I see Christ in you

When you thank ME when you rise
When you open your heart to others

I see Christ in you

HE shines through in the things you do
It’s not the act, but the actions
I see your heart, let it show through

I see Christ in you

When you kneel alone
When you give more than you have
When you pray for your enemy

I see Christ in you

your eyes sparkle, manifesting MY love
your smile shines
your kindness exudes from you
you have to much
It overflows from you
Give away every ounce He has given you
He will fill you two fold
Give it all away again
His blessing are limitless

I see Christ in you

you are MY ambassador
Go with MY power
In your words
In your deeds
Speak those words of life to all
Make your actions MY actions

I see Christ in you

Jesus said to you and I
you will do more
you will do greater

I see Christ in you

A Quote from Smith Wigglesworth

There are many things in life that you can not understand. But be patient, for when the hand of God is upon something, it may grind very slowly, but it will form the finest thing possible if you dare to wait until it is complete.
