It had been a very long day. I had been working on a display project, taking down a massive Christmas display of elegantly decorated trees, wreaths and garlands. When I finished my work for the day, I went to an interview that had been arranged by a temp agency I had just signed up with.
The interview went well, and afterwards I decided to visit the temp agency to finish the paper work connected to working through them. As I walked into the door, I encountered a vivacious woman that was my contact at the agency. It was the first time I had met her, so I introduced myself to her, and reached my hand out to shake her hand. When I did, I explained if my face was glowing with flecks of glitter, it was because I had just returned from the Christmas Storage project.
The first words she spoke to me were, ‘You smell like Christmas!’. Those works struck a deep chord within me.
A little later that day, I thought to myself, that is exactly what I want to do! Everyday of my life, I want to ‘smell like Christmas’. Not the Christmas tree, brightly-wrapped-presents, eggnog-candle-kind-of Christmas. I want to smell like the real Christmas. The God-coming-to-be-near-those-He-loves-kind-of Christmas. The one that has the sweet aroma of life, and the extreme love of God.
